Rush Street Becomes First Major US Sportsbook to Launch in Mexico

RushBet now live

Chicago-based Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has announced that its RushBet online casino and sports betting platform is now live in Mexico. RSI confirmed via a Thursday press release that RushBet launched on June 30 in partnership with Mexican media conglomerate Grupo Multimedios.

Co-CEO of Multimedios Angel Cong expressed excitement at the launch, which he said makes RSI the “first major US-based online operator” to go live in Mexico.

130 million potential players”

Any Mexican resident 18 or older can now sign up and start wagering via mobile or the RushBet website. In the press release, RSI stated that “130 million potential players” could start betting, referring to the population of Mexico. According to RSI figures from 2021 however, the nation’s online gambling market stands at around 30 million multimedia users.

Opportunities for Mexican gamblers

Under the terms of the 25-year agreement struck in February with the Mexican media powerhouse, RSI gets to run online gambling anywhere in the Latin American country, thanks to a sub-brand of Multimedios holding a Mexico digital gaming license.

This means bettors in Mexico can now play over 350 of RushBet’s games via its online casino platform, including slot machines and table games. RSI’s news release said that the online casino also features Evolution’s live dealer table games.

the chance to bet on domestic games in Liga MX

The RushBet online sportsbook and mobile app, meanwhile, gives sports fans in Mexico the chance to bet on domestic games in Liga MX and a variety of worldwide markets, such as the English Premier League, La Liga, the NFL, MLB, and NBA.

RSI CEO Richard Schwartz said his firm is “thrilled” to welcome “millions of Mexican gaming enthusiasts into the expanding RushBet community.” He added that RSI is confident RushBet will become one of Mexico’s “preferred online casino and sports betting destinations.”

A Latin American rush

In Thursday’s press release, Schwartz also referenced RSI’s growing presence in Latin America, including Colombia, where the CEO said his brand is “top 3 in amounts wagered.”

At the time RSI and Multimedios inked the 25-year deal in February, RSI’s sportsbook in Colombia had raked in almost 20% of the nation’s wagering handle for that particular quarter. Cong, the media giant’s CEO, said at the time there was “no doubt” RSI could replicate this success in Mexico.

As a long-established traditional and digital media giant in Mexico, Multimedios additionally gives RSI an opportunity to leverage its traditional and digital media assets and distribution channels.
